Iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anaemia can cause tiredness, shortness of breath and poor concentration. When iron tablets don’t work or upset your stomach, iron given into a vein can replace your stores in one or a few visits. Our Nurse Practitioner assesses you first, and our nurses give the infusion and watch you afterwards.
Two ways to start
- You already have an order from your physician or Nurse Practitioner: send it to us and we book the infusion.
- You need an assessment: book a visit with our Nurse Practitioner, in clinic or by secure video, to review your blood work, symptoms and options.
How the infusion works
- We confirm your order, blood results and allergies, and explain the benefits and risks.
- A nurse places an IV and gives the iron over the time your product requires.
- You stay at least 30 minutes afterwards so we can watch for a reaction.
- A blood test 4 to 8 weeks later shows how well your stores have recovered.
Tell us first if you
- Are pregnant or could be
- Have reacted to iron, injections or any medicine before
- Take a blood thinner
